When a bicycle is designed with the breathtaking and record-setting Bugatti Chiron as its inspiration, it’s no surprise that it not only looks like a work of art, but costs as much too. German-based luxury-bike manufacturer PG has partnered with the venerable French supercar company to create the appropriately named PG Bugatti Bike.
And like the 1,500-horsepower automotive marvel it draws on for its design, the bicycle makes expert use of high-tech materials and manufacturing techniques usually reserved for top-end automotive and aeronautics wonders.
The result is a bicycle made from 95 percent high-strength carbon fiber, weighing in at less than 11 pounds while maintaining excellent rigidity and strength. Even such core components as the seat, forks, and rims are constructed from the lightweight material.
The company claims the PG Bugatti Bike will be the lightest “special urban bike” in the world. Unfortunately, that designation carries with it a small caveat: The bicycle isn’t intended for use on public roads. (Can you imagine the anger one would experience if their Bugatti bicycle fell victim to a pothole in the road?).
But that’s a minor point for those looking for a bike that marries cutting-edge technology with stark minimalist beauty. With only 667 examples to be produced, the PG Bugatti Bike also offers exclusivity to match its price tag—a cool $39,000. And current Bugatti owners who want a more personal connection to their bikes can even have them customized to match their cars, right down to the paint and leather options.
