How To E-mail Groups Or Large Number Of People From Gmail

How to Email Groups From Gmail

  1. When composing a message, start typing the name of the group in the appropriate field. Keep in mind that there are Cc and Bcc options when writing emails; you might not always want to send emails to a group of email addresses with all of them in the "To" field.
  2. Gmail will auto-suggest the group name as you type it. Select it from the suggestion drop-down menu.
  3. Once selected, Gmail will auto-populate the field with every email address from the group.

How to Choose Which Contacts to Email From the Group
To just temporarily remove some of the addresses from the group so that not all of them get the email, first enter the group into the message so that they all appear, and then hover your mouse over the contact and click the small "x" to delete it from that specific email. Doing so will not delete the contact from the group or remove the contact from Google Contacts.

Another option that's more appropriate if you're planning to cut out lots of addresses from the group, is to hand-pick which recipients should be included out of the group:
How to Quickly Move Contacts Between To, Cc and Bcc
Once you have a contact in one field, you can easily move it to another through drag-and-drop. So, as an example, if you're all set up to email five people regularly, through the "To" field, you can very easily drag a couple into the "Bcc" and/or "Cc" fields without having to re-type those addresses
